The 2009 Voodoo Music Fest in New Orleans, Louisiana is slated to be one of the biggest festival events of the year.
Coming once again to the Big Easy, The Voodoo Music Experience is bringing together a line up to match all line ups. Kiss on Halloween night, the one and only performance of the year by Eminem and this year's newest addition to the festival, Lenny Kravitz. Held in City Park, Voodoo Fest will commence on Friday, October 30th and continue through Sunday, November 1st. The Mariott Hotel in the French Quarter is once again the sponsoring hotel for the festival, and rooms are booking up fast. Since the festival draws in excess of 60,000 fans coming together to worship at the altar of music, rooms and tickets are limited. Kiss and Cajun Greats Headlining this year's festival is the rock band Kiss. Known for their theatrical shows and signature make-up, this legendary band promises to be the highlight of the festival. In addition to Kiss, the festival will feature such bands as Widespread Panic, The Flaming Lips, Jane's Addiction and gypsy punk kings, Gogol Bordello. With Eminem making his only performance of the year at Voodoo, some will pay the price of the entire weekend ticket just for his show. Besides big international names, some of the Big Easy's local legends will be playing, as well. Beausoliel, Robert Randolph and the Family Band, and the Rebirth Brass Band are only a few of the local favorites that can be heard. Burlesque and BBQ In addition to the music, festival goers will also have a chance to experience other entertaining sights and sounds of the South. New Orleans best burlesque troop, Fleur de Tease, will be performing acrobatic feats and vaudeville burlesque right at the festival. The delicious food of New Orleans and south Louisiana can be sampled at the festival. Instead of regular festival fare, attendees can sample true New Orleans gumbo, BBQ shrimp from the Gulf Coast and hot and spicy jambalaya. Price and Privilege Tickets for the Voodoo Experience are $169 and can be purchased at the festival website. The ticket covers the price of the entire festival for all three days. Maps of the festival site as well as information about how to get to and from the festival can also be found on the Voodoo website. The festival is not offering on site camping this year, so overnight accommodations should be made in advance. The festival is an all ages event and children under 8 may enter for free with a parent. One day tickets to the festival are available in addition to weekend passes, however once on festival grounds, one day ticket holders are not allowed to come and go.
