As an indication of just how influential indie music is becoming in the music industry, the 2007 Indie Music Awards will be the opening presentation of this year's influential Canada Music Week.
Held in downtown Toronto from March 7th through to March 10th, this is a gathering of all that's good and great in the Canadian music scene and beyond. A gathering of musicians, media and fans alike, it truly is one of the largest events in the music industry calendar. The fact that the Indie Awards have been chosen to kick-start the whole week's events is a major boost for the indie music scene in general, and for the artist's that are both being honoured and performing.
With a cross-section of genres being represented, from the well-known (Thom Yorke, Arctic Monkeys) to the lesser-known (The Suits XL, Neverending White Lights), the awards merely emphasise the sheer depth of talent currently in the indie music scene. It promises to be a wonderful evening, and Suite101.com will be there to bring you the all the news and winners.
