I Surrender Records New Band, Take NoticeDetroit Band Latest Addition for Indie Punk Label
From the label that brought you Four Year Strong and Dragonette comes TAKE NOTICE, another sawed-off shotgun of hardcore blended with melody and the listenability of pop.
I Surrender Records is proud to announce the newest member of their family – Detroit’s Take Notice. Intensely motivated, musically captivating, and faster than a speeding bullet, pop-punk newcomers Take Notice have taken aim towards the start of something huge. Take Notice represents everything fast-paced and high-energy, breathing new life into the familiar, time-tested glory of melodic hardcore. “It's energetic. It's upbeat. It may be complicated when you break it down but it's accessible to everybody, that's important. It's raw, it’s music you can feel,” says vocalist Mike Duggan. Midwest boys with a distinctly east coast sound, Take Notice calls to mind iconic bands like Kid Dynamite, Lifetime, and The Movielife. The Origin and The SoundDisappointed with the path of college and nine-to-fives laid before them, Mike Duggan (vocals), Colin Guffey (guitar), Noah Fenton (guitar), Jack Mallinger (bass), and Trey Cook (drums) set forth for new horizons in their hometown of Detroit, Michigan in May 2008. “Take Notice started because of a really difficult time in our lives, and it helped us overcome our problems. We couldn't live without playing music, so we sat and staring writing songs about what we were going through at the time. Right away, we knew there was something special,” says the band though their new label, I Surrender, which has composed a great biography on the ambitous quintet. In July 2008, Take Notice self-released The Get-Go EP, a three-track download made available for free on the band’s MySpace. A concentrated effort aimed straight for the heart, Take Notice accomplished more passion and emotional impact with three songs than most bands hoped to achieve in their entire careers. The five members, whose ages range from 18-21, embody the do-it-yourself spirit that helped build today’s scene. New Album And Other NewsTake Notice will be entering the studio to write and record their debut album, slated for an early fall release on I Surrender Records. Their plans for the future are simple: “We want to inspire frustrated kids like we were to take control of their lives and build a dream for themselves. We want people to hear the heart in our music and hold it true to their own lives. We want other people to feel what Take Notice made us feel. And, we want to take everybody along for this ride.” Newly signed and ready to turn heads, what else is on the horizon for Take Notice? "Make history," write the guys on their MySpace, "That's the plan." In other news, label mates and Decaydance Records signees, Four Year Strong will be heading out on the road again in support of a forthcoming album composed entirely of '90's cover songs that drops July 21st (details on that soon). The tour will be snaking across the country this Summer and includes a strong array of acts: Set Your Goals, The Swellers, and Grave Maker.
