Breaking Benjamin New Album in 2009The Band Enter the Studio to Record Untitled Fourth Record
Breaking Benjamin have at last begun work on the follow up to 2006's Phobia with the hopes of releasing the new album before the close of 2009.
The wait is over for the fans who now have a reason to hope that Breaking Benjamin will create their fourth studio album. The as yet untitled disc will be headed up by David Bendeth, the same producer who manned the controls on Breaking Benjamin's last two offerings, the hit producing "We Are Not Alone," and 2006's "Phobia" which landed the band their first #1 United States Mainstream Rock Hit, "Breath." "It is with much joy, we announce we are finally in the studio working again with the love guru David Bendeth," the band announced on their Myspace page on June 24th 2009, "The first song in the works is called 'I Will Not Bow' and its coming along nicely." The short post was to the point and comes six months after the last word (January 18th) on the band's progress where they expressed hope the new record would be ready for a summer time release. That ship may be sailing. Breaking Benjamin in the Studio Frontman and principal songwriter Ben Burnley has been at work on the record since late last year. On November 20th 2008 Burnley spoke on cagerattle.com about the writing for the new album. "It's coming along pretty smoothly," said Ben laughing, "Hopefully I can get it done in the next ten years...we're taking our time, being really picky with lyrics...hopefully the fans agree." It appears as though with their return to the studio Burnley and the band have solidifed enough of a roster of songs to begin the recording process. Ben Burnley's Music Collaborations The lengthy delay had raised concerns about Burnley's health going forward. An unidentified problem sidelined the singer while on tour in support of "Phobia" a couple years ago and it was feared the issue could have arisen anew. Ben's break neck schedule of collaborations, working on tracks for long standing tourmates, Red, and young (only sixteen years old) guitar virtuoso Patrick Droney (Ben co-wrote the track "Alive" on Droney's new record), could also have caused a lack of spare hours. There is no word as yet on a tour this summer or in the near future as the band will no doubt seek to focus on the recording process that has taken the better part of two years to reach. They will look to improve on an already successful catalogue that has produced chart topping singles and kept fans fervent enough in this world of digital album downloads and I-Tunes exclusives to ride the post-grunge exhale one more time.
